The HCG Diet Plan follows a very specific protocol as developed by Dr. ATW Simeons who demonstrated outstanding results in his international clinic during the 1950’s. While his entire program, or protocol, involved important phases designed to re-train the body’s ability to restore and govern its own fat-burning capabilities, it involves a three week phase to dramatically reduce body weight through the use of HCG and a VLCD, or very low calorie diet.

The amazing thing about Dr. Simeon’s “HCG Diet Plan” is its simplicity. In a nutshell, here is what it looks like:

The HCG Diet Plan At A Glance
Breakfast No Food
All you want May use Stevia only. NO honey, molasses or sweeteners such as aspartame, NutraSweet, acesulfame, sucralose, Splenda or chemical sugars.
Can use 2 tablespoons of milk.
Lunch & Dinner (1 of each)
Melba Toast
3 ounces or 100 grams-raw
One handful or one cup
One fruit
1 piece
Lean beef, Veal, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab or shrimp or 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese or 4 eggs (1 whole + 3 whites).
Radishes, cucumbers, celery, fennel, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, spinach, lettuce, chard, asparagus, beet greens.
Apple, orange, strawberries, or ½ grapefruit.
Optional-omit for maximum results.

So, what are all these “Phases” you’re hearing in the buzz about HCG? The entire program, or protocol, as designed by Dr. Simeon involves four (4) phases, each lasting for a three (3) week duration. Only one of these phases, Phase 2, involves taking the HCG drops along with a very low calorie diet. This is the phase when the most dramatical weight loss occurs. The other three phases are important in maintaining your new weight and re-training your body to keep it the weight off.

While Phase 1 is optional, Phases 3 and 4 are equally as important as the phase responsible for the actual weight loss.

Phase 1

De-toxification program.  Cleansing the system

Recommended to accelerate the weight loss but not mandatory.  Most folks go directly to Phase 2. 

Phase 2, (3 weeks)
Days 1 & 2

“Gorge” Days + HCG drops 3 x daily


  • Begin taking HCG drops. Shake HCG bottle vigorously.
  • Day 1 and Day 2 are “Gorge Days”….eat what you want and as much as you want, particularly fats
  • Gorge days are important to allow 3 days for the HCG to saturate into your system & jump-start the fat burning process.
Phase 2, (3 weeks)
Days 3-23

HCG Drops and 500 Calorie diet


  • Day 3—begin the 500 calorie Diet.
  • Take HCG drops under tongue 3x day – spaced out .
  • Weigh daily. During this time the most rapid weight loss will occur.
Phase 2—Days 24-26

Continue 500 Calorie Diet WITHOUT HCG Drops

  • This is a 3 day transitional period whereas you will phase out of using HCG while maintaining the 500 calorie plan before increasing to a 1500 calorie eating plan.  The purpose of this is to allow the HCG to gradually flush out of your system.  
Phase 3—(3 weeks)
Days 27-44

Stop using HCG drops and increase diet to 1500 calories but NO SUGARS or STARCHES



  • Goal is to maintain and stabilize your new weight on the last day of HCG usage.
  • “Re-sets” the Hypothalamus Gland/part of the brain to burn calories rather than store them as fat.
  • Weigh daily to guard against regaining 2 pounds or more (2 pounds or less gain is O.K.)   See TIP below if you do gain 2+ pounds.
Phase 4, (3 weeks)
Days 45-66

No HCG…SLOWLY start introducing Sugars and Starches into diet

  • No caloric limit.
  • Further stabilizes new weight when sugars and starches are added to diet.
  • “Tweaks” the Hypothalamus Gland to burn most any food you consume (including sugars and starches) rather than store as fat.
